Combolands Fountain early Gold: an irrigated crop engine

Updated Oct 5, 2026

The Fountain route is a crop loop first and a Gold engine second. The documented pattern: a Fountain’s irrigation support keeps a Berry and Picker cycle transforming, and each transformation carries a documented low chance to pay Gold — so Gold arrives as an occasional payout along the loop, not as a rate. One transformation without Gold proves nothing; neither does one week. Without a Fountain you keep the ordinary crop scoring chain instead.

Start the crop loop the Fountain can feed

The engine’s moving part is the same documented harvest transformation: Berry Bushes in a Picker’s Hut range are scored and transformed into Empty Bushes, then grow again. The Fountain’s role, per the player reports, is irrigation support that keeps this cycle repeating fast enough to matter in the early weeks. Place the Fountain where its relationship actually covers the crops — an unconnected Fountain irrigates nothing.

Picker's Hut card: Agricultural Common, triggers when any Berry Bush is in range, +20 for each Berry Bush in range, and transforms each into Empty Bush
The pictured Picker’s Hut runs the repeating transformation at the centre of the route: Berry Bush → Empty Bush, then regrowth. The Fountain supports this loop; it does not replace it.

Read the Gold as a chance, not a rate

The Fountain is not a passive “Gold aura” and not an ordinary scorer you trigger from outside. The documented mechanic, from the same player thread that runs this route: each crop transformation has a low chance to gain Gold. No exact chance is published, so this page quotes none — what matters for decisions is the shape of the payout: many transformations, occasional Gold. That also tells you how to read silence: a transformation — or a week — without Gold is the expected common outcome, not proof the engine is broken. Judge it over a stretch of cycles, and do not transplant sample numbers: figures like a dozen or a few dozen Gold per week in the threads are individual runs with their own cards, not a rate this page promises.

Spend it like early Gold

The point of the route is timing: early Gold buys the shop piece that completes your next link — a missing scorer, a removal tool, a range fix — while cheaper engines are still being outpaced. Players describing the route treat the Gold as a bridge into the mid-run, not as the run. If the Gold event stops appearing, check the crop loop before the Fountain: a cycle that no longer transforms supports no event.

Without the Fountain

  1. No Fountain in the pool: run the plain crop scoring chain from the guild pair plans. It scores; it just does not pay the reported Gold event.
  2. Fountain but no Berries or Picker: irrigation without a transforming crop is landscaping. Keep it as support for a later crop, or do not buy it yet.
  3. Gold event never observed: a low chance means dry stretches are the norm — one transformation, or one week, without Gold proves nothing. Re-check that the Fountain’s relationship covers the working crops, then let the loop keep rolling before judging it.
  4. Choosing between this and population: the crop loop still scores while it irrigates, so the route is rarely either/or — the decision is whether the Fountain slot beats another scorer this week. Milestone timing is where that call pays off.

The route comes from the Goofy Clowns thread, the unbalanced buildings thread and the full-version feedback thread; the Picker card from emgeal’s Sep 6 guide, all read Oct 5, 2026. Several player samples, no promised rates — not our current-client test.
