Combolands guild unlocks, secret pools and ranks

Updated Sep 29, 2026

Your opening pair comes from seven standard guilds unlocked on your save. Progress through runs and check the game’s current progression display for the next requirement; no verified current threshold table is available here. Player guides describe Rogue and Arcane as extra building pools gained through in-run vote routes, not two more guilds to choose at the start.

Know what can be an opening pick

The official Steam listing describes seven guilds, two different picks per run and 21 possible combinations. Steam achievements name the standard guilds: Agricultural, Frontier, Martial, Commercial, Civic, Industrial and Maritime. They are not all necessarily unlocked on a fresh save.

The seven-name opening roster comes from Steam’s official description and achievements. Cube and T.H.E. Psyborg describe Rogue and Arcane as later building pools, outside that opening pair selection.

Play and finish runs to expand the available pool, then read the current progression display for the next unlock on your save. A developer pre-launch note says later-guild thresholds were reduced, but gives no replacement numbers. An old score or level table would be misleading. The current-run Compendium, added in a developer v1.0.5 note mirrored by SteamDB, helps inspect available buildings and heirlooms after you enter a run; it is not a verified table of every normal-guild unlock requirement.

Once a pair is available, the starting-plan comparison helps choose among three different goals. Choose before seeing future card draws; adapt the engine after selection.

Rogue and Arcane: extra pools, different route

Cube’s Aug 29 unlock guide and T.H.E. Psyborg’s guide describe two secret building pools. Their reports agree on the broad vote routes and that these pools do not become ordinary opening pair picks. The detailed numbers below come from Cube’s guide, not from an official current threshold table or our own playtest.

Player-documented paths · check current item text

PoolReported pathWhat to confirm in your run
RogueMeet Spymaster request → Cube reports 75 Gold within its milestone → use the Spymaster vote.Request, current milestone and the vote actually taken.
ArcaneCollect gems in the gem-container heirloom → Cube reports eight gems → Lost Crown → Wizard vote.Current heirloom wording, crown and Wizard vote.
These are attributed player routes. Counts may depend on the build and displayed request.

Cube’s Aug 29 screenshots show a 75-Gold request and the subsequent Spymaster Vote effect. That number belongs to this recorded request; read the requirement in your current run.
Jewellery Box heirloom in Cube's guide, showing capacity for eight gems and a special heirloom on sale when fullLost Crown heirloom card in Cube's guide, showing a Wizard Vote when sold
Cube’s Aug 29 screenshots name Jewellery Box and show an eight-Gem capacity, then Lost Crown granting a Wizard Vote when sold. Psyborg names the container differently; use your build’s item text rather than assuming the names are aliases.

Item-name conflict: Cube calls the gem container Jewellery Box; Psyborg calls it Gemstone Satchel. The sources do not prove these are aliases. Read the item text in your build rather than searching only one name. The developer v1.0.6 note mirrored by SteamDB mentions a Jewellery Box gem-storage fix, but does not settle the broader naming or every unlock step.

Climb the ranks by reviewing your engine

The official store says there are ten increasingly difficult ranks. The ordered Victory names visible in Steam achievements are below. Those names do not establish per-rank card modifiers or a universal best pair.

Ten rank names · achievement order

  1. Villager
  2. Yeoman
  3. Citizen
  4. Envoy
  5. Consul
  6. Ambassador
  7. Governor
  8. Chancellor
  9. Viceroy
  10. Regent
Names only. No current numeric difficulty or score modifiers are inferred from this list.

At each milestone, check the target and time shown in your own run. Before spending every placement on a one-time gain, ask whether the current engine can fire again. After a loss, use the layout failure table to find the broken source, range, terrain or cooldown link. That is an editorial review method, not a guaranteed rank-clear recipe.

If a hidden achievement does not appear

First confirm that the relevant vote was actually used. Psyborg reports that a pre-Endless run finish can matter for hidden achievements, and players report delayed achievement display. A developer v1.0.6 note says the game checks for pending achievements at startup. Finish a normal run if you are chasing the achievement, then reopen once before repeating the whole secret route. A pool may have unlocked despite a delayed achievement notice; inspect the game’s current collection before spending another run on the same path.

For the Gold route, see Martial + Commercial’s conditional plan. Avoid treating an old community number as proof that the current build will offer the same request.

Official structure and rank names come from Steam; secret routes are attributed to Cube and T.H.E. Psyborg, checked Sep 29, 2026. The current game client and save were not independently tested for this page.
