Make a direct-adjacency engine work first. Then reserve room for Railroad and the supported neighboring buildings, and check each live placement preview. emgeal’s player guide describes Railroad as sharing adjacency with buildings around it. That is different from extending a card’s range or triggering a building. Railroad alone does not grow a crop or fire an idle target.
What Railroad changes
Adjacency tells a card which neighbors count. Railroad can let supported neighbors share that relation, according to emgeal’s post-release overview. It does not turn every card’s orange range into adjacency, and the source does not establish an unlimited network of linked tracks. Use the current card text and preview for which exact buildings count in your run.
For a crop engine, keep the Well-to-crop adjacency and Picker’s Hut’s own shown range conceptually separate. Railroad may help the first relation; it does not grant the Hut a larger range.
Add it to an engine without losing the first cycle
- Place one working direct-adjacency pair, such as Well beside a crop, where both cards are legal.
- Reserve a plausible neighboring space for Railroad and a supported building before filling every gap.
- Inspect the live blue adjacency/placement preview on each candidate building. Confirm the relation you expect is shown; do not infer it from a drawn line.
- Add the neighbor only when it can contribute to the existing engine. Watch for the source event and the target effect before adding another connector.
The current card may impose terrain or placement limits. curtaincall’s quick manual distinguishes blue adjacency and orange range overlays; those overlays are the quickest check when the geometry feels ambiguous.
If Railroad never appears
Keep the useful buildings directly adjacent, and keep the Hut or other range-based card within its own legal preview. A smaller engine that actually fires is better than empty space held for a missing rail. If the whole crop line fails, use the four-link diagnosis before changing the map around it.
Do not use Railroad to explain a source that never triggered, a target with the wrong condition, or a cooldown that has not elapsed. Those are different failures.
