Combolands Fishing Boat: score Nature in range, not fish production

Updated Oct 5, 2026

The documented Fishing Boat is a Nature scorer: every 4 weeks it scores +20 for each Nature in its range — it does not produce fish. The build is therefore “legal water position plus as much real Nature inside the shown range as possible”. Fish-producing and Fishing-triggering cards exist, but they are different jobs on different cards, and stacking them up does not by itself make the Boat score.

Nature is the fuel: build the shoreline count

Every Nature tag inside the shown range is worth the documented +20 base per trigger, so the build is a counting exercise. Player routes place shoreline Berry Bushes and Flowers next to the Boat because those are Nature they can actually add; the Gardener’s Cottage is the documented way to multiply such targets, remembering it copies to a random tile in its own range. Count the tags before and after each addition — +20 is the documented base per counted Nature, so if modifiers apply in your run the total can move by more than the base step.

Producer, trigger and scorer are three jobs

The points thread corrects a common Maritime misread with two examples: a Fish Farm produces Fish, and a Fish Trap triggers other Fishing buildings when it is created — and neither scores by itself. The Fishing Boat is the opposite case: a scorer that produces nothing and triggers nothing else. Multipliers follow the same logic — mult on a Farm multiplies its own (nonexistent) score, a trap the multiplier page details. Player routes also mention Kelp Fields and Fish Nets as gradual reinforcements; their full effects are not verified in the sources, so treat them as extras to read in your run, not as a promised ocean economy.

When the Boat stays quiet

  1. Cannot place it: no legal water or shallows position. A Plaza does not fix terrain; see the neutral fixes for what each option actually lifts.
  2. Scores less than expected: recount what legally carries Nature inside the shown range — adjacent-looking is not in-range. Which specific fish-related cards carry a Nature tag is not verified here, so count the tags the live cards actually show rather than assuming either way.
  3. Nothing for weeks: it triggers on its own 4-week cycle per the card. Two quiet weeks is a timer, not a bug.
  4. Trying to make it a fish factory: that is a different card family (producers and creation triggers above). This page is deliberately not a full Maritime guide — advanced ship and Gold routes are still unverified in the sources.

If Nature supply is the bottleneck, the forest build and herb chains are the land-based ways to raise the count; if water is scarce on the map, scout before locking the guild pair, as the guild plans advise.

The card text comes from curtaincall’s manual (Aug 28/31, 2026); the producer/trigger/scorer correction from the points discussion; shoreline targets from the Goofy Clowns thread, all read Oct 5, 2026. Attributed material — a neighbouring card in the source image has its title cut off, so it is deliberately unnamed here.
